Due to the current situation there is a reduction in numbers of fishing boats working, they cannot get a fair price on the market (which has now closed) so are mostly tied up awaiting better times. It isn’t commercially viable to carry on bringing fish ashore when the chip shops, hotels and restaurants are closed meaning minimal demand. Their fish was sold using an auction system but no demand means prices would be too low to cover costs such as fuel and fishermen’s wages. No point using up their quote allowances!
